The scent of pancakes wafted into my nose, rousing me from sleep. The sunlight. streaming through

the window hit my eyes, making me groan as I sat up and stretched my body. I looked to my side, and

Alpha Kex was nowhere to be found.

I could hear sounds coming from the kitchen, and I got up to investigate. As I walked out of the

bedroom, I was hit with the full force of the smell of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The kitchen was warm

and inviting, the sounds of cooking filling the air. I followed my nose to the source of the delicious

smells.

There he was, Alpha Kex, wearing an apron and his back to me, standing at the stove. I couldn’t help

but admire him, his strong frame, his broad shoulders, his wavy hair, hist scent filling the room.

I felt an urge to go up behind him and wrap my arms around him, but I held myself back. This was new

territory for me, and I would rather not make him uncomfortable.

“You know it’s a crime to stare at someone without their permission,” he said, a mischievous glint in his

eye.

I felt my cheeks grow red, embarrassed to be caught. “I wasn’t staring at you,” I protested, but my

words were weak.

“Then what were you staring at?” he asked, his voice low and seductive.

He moved closer to me, and I felt my breath catch in my throat. My heart was racing, and I could feel

my nipples harden beneath my clothes. I knew I should look away, but I couldn’t tear my eyes from his.

He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead. “Good morning,” he said, his voice warm and soothing. He

caressed my cheek, his touch sending a shiver through me.

“Good morning, Alpha Kex,” I mumbled, my words still half–asleep.

“Ugh,” he groaned, “stop putting ‘Alpha‘ in front of my name. It’s just Kex.”

I laughed, the sound filling the room. “Fine, Alpha, sorry Kex,” I said, a smile on my

face.

He rolled his eyes, but I could tell he was smiling too.

“Do you mind going for a walk after breakfast?” he asked, breaking the moment.

between us.

“Why not?” I said, a little surprised at his request.

“Thank you,” he said with a smile. He leaned, his lips closed to mine, I was about to press my lips with

his, when I caught a whiff of something burning.

“Shit!” Alpha Kex exclaimed, rushing to the stove and turning it off. He removed the pan, and the scent

of burnt food filled the kitchen.

Oops, my late dad wasn’t lying when he said women are distractions,” he said, his face sheepish. I

couldn’t help but laugh.

He served the food on the counter, and we sat opposite each other, enjoying the meal in

companionable silence. I put the pancakes in my mouth, savoring the taste of maple syrup and butter, I

shut my eyes.

“Mmmm,” I said, unable to contain my satisfaction.

“Delicious,” he observed with a grin. I opened my eyes, surprised by his comment.

“I didn’t know you were paying attention,” I said, a little embarrassed. He shrugged.

“It’s hard not to notice the way you are enjoying your breakfast made by the best chef,” he said, a hint

of amusement in his voice.

‘So you think you are the best chef?” I said with a teasing smile.

“Absolutely!” he exclaimed, a confident look on his face.

“Come on,” I said, “just admit it. I cook better than you.”

He gave me a sly grin. “I will admit nothing of the sort,” he said.

“A chef who burns food isn’t much of a chef,” I teased.

His cheeks grew pink. “That’s because you distracted me!” he said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

I felt my cheeks turn red, a blush spreading across my face.

We continued to banter back and forth, a playful exchange that brought a smile to my face. When we

were done eating, I gathered the plates and put them in the sink.

“Don’t worry, I will do the dishes,” Alpha Kex said, his voice gentle.

“Thank you,” I said, relieved that I wouldn’t have to spend my time scrubbing dirty dishes. I hate doing

the dishes, it really sucks cleaning them.

I headed towards the bedroom and closed behind.

I hurried to the bathroom to take a shower, eager to feel refreshed and ready for the day ahead. I

stepped out of the bathroom, my hair damp and my skin still warm from the shower. I looked at the

clothes in my room, not sure what to wear.

I settled on a pair of jeans and a crop top, deciding that comfort was more important than fashion. I

looked at myself in the mirror, cursing myself for not bringing any makeup. But then again, it wasn’t like

I had expected to be taken to a cottage in the woods.

I stepped out of the cottage, feeling the cool breeze on my skin. Alpha Kex was standing by the door,

his expression unreadable.

“Ready?” he asked, a slight smile playing on his lips.

“Yes,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

He wrapped his hand around mine, and we started walking. I looked up at the sky, the sun shining

brightly in the clear blue sky. The scent of pine trees and wildflowers filled. the air, and I felt a sense of

peace wash over me.

I glanced at Alpha Kex, a smile on my face, but as soon as I noticed that he was looking. at me, I

looked away, my cheeks growing warm. Why did I feel so nervous around him?

I caught him staring at me again, and I held his gaze, daring him to look away first. He didn’t back

down, his gaze intense and unwavering.

“What?” I asked, my cheeks flushed with color.

He let out a small chuckle, and I felt my heart skip a beat. “I’m just wondering how the goddess could

have made such a beautiful damsel like you,” he said, a teasing smile on his lips.

I laughed and playfully hit him on the arm. “You are such a dork,” I said, and he laughed along with me.

“But you asked me to lose weight the first time we met,” I said, still unable to keep a straight face.

“I just wanted to bring

Own your cro. You had a sharp mouth, and I didn’t like it,” he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

I laughed, the sound bubbling out of me with a joy I hadn’t felt in a long time.

“Well, it didn’t bring down my ego,” I said, shrugging.

“The funny thing is, it just made me like you more.” I was taken aback by his confession,

unsure of how to respond.

“Is anything the matter?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.

I shook my head, realizing I had been lost in thought. Maybe I was reading too much. into this, I

thought. But the more I talked to him, the more intrigued I became.

Who was this man in front of me? He seemed so different from the ruthless Alpha I had met before.

Had something changed, or had I just been wrong about him from the

start?
